Firebreather® Cavity Barrier is a vent with instant fire resistance used in ventilated façades and roof constructions.
The main challenge of ventilated facades is ensuring the breathability of the building while at the same time preventing the passage of smoke and fire through the façade cavities.
The Firebreather technology enables air to flow through a façade yet prevents the spread of flames and embers instantly, in the case of fire.
The technology combines several elements, of which a flame arresting element that stops flames from the first second, and a heat absorbing and accumulating element that extends the flame arresting effect for up to five minutes. Together with these, a thermal bridge is created to prevent ignition on the unexposed side, and an encapsulated grid of intumescent, keeping it in place that expands to close the cavity.
The Firebreather® technology solves in an elegant way the problems for which there were no good solutions for previously. It can be applied in different configurations in construction, in offshore installations, maritime, energy storage, and more.
The innovation is certified by RISE Fire Research and has been tested in large scale configurations all around the world.
